How to Play Piano with Your Feet!
Piano is hard. It takes a ritual of practicing a little bit each day.
It’s just like an exercise routine: You won’t build muscle if you only exercise for one day and you won’t learn many songs if you only practice for one day.
Start with 15 minutes Today
15 minutes a day adds up to almost 100 hours in a year.
Once you get in the habit of practicing, you can always practice a little bit more, but just getting started is the hardest part!
A Pianist with No Arms
I can’t imagine what Liu Wei had to go through. He lost his arms as a kid from an electrical accident, but still he has learned to play the piano incredibly well.
Set a Goal for Yourself!
If you want to accomplish anything worthwhile, it will take a little work.
When you get frustrated and feel like giving up, watch this video of Liu Wei.
You can accomplish anything you can dream up.
We’ll Hold You Accountable!
Post a comment below to let everyone know some of your goals for this year and all the fastpianolessons.com readers will help hold you accountable!
We’ll check back in a month so you can update your progress! It could be piano related, or any other personal goal you have.
Maybe a New Year’s resolution that you have already abandoned. It usually takes multiple attempts.

I started crying, watching Liu Wei play. I have been upset about the two missing fingers on my right hand, and how it affects my reach.
My goals for the next 12 months:
1. To play well enough, without sheet music, to accompany myself in a public gig;
2. To solidify my plans to end horse slaughter in Canada and rescue individual horses, by utilizing my creative skills.
Thanks for this, Chris!
This story is simply inspiring. The sad truth is, we hear and see so many stories like Liu Wei’s and yet we complain about trivial thing, especially, in the context of piano playing.
I will definately use this story to build my confidence as an aspiring pianist.
thank you for sending this most inspiring and courageous piano player. and we think we have a problem.practice , practice.
Beautiful….
gracias por el video chris se los voy a mostrar a mis alumnos para que vean que todo se puede
Why I can’t watch the video
I first saw Liu Wei play on yahoo. It was incredible. Thank you for posting it for others, Chris.
Simply amazing and inspiring! thank you Liu Wei
just amazing!!!
Liu Wei is a person we need to learn from him about the importance of willpower!
you prove to me that everything is possible if you just believe in yourself you can!
Just Wonderfull !!! Maravilhoso !!!!!
Man I just saw that and it was absolutely beautiful. Just goes to show that if we want something bad enough we can make it happen.
My problem right now is getting used to playing with a band, because I spend alot of time doing solo piano. So I want to work on that and I would like to learn atleast learn 6 Christmas songs this year (I have only learned “Let it Snow” and I have to look at the chart again because I totally forgot it.)
There are so many things to work on ie setup a website, get a press kit, start a blog, get gigs, write songs etc, etc. I know that if I keep trying and stick with it just like Liu Wei, my dreams will become a reality.
Thanks for the post Chris!
Keep trying, keep learning, keep creating, keep practicing, keep smiling, keep praying, keep believing, keep positive, keep networking, keep sharing and most importantly……
Keep Living!
Very inspiring…
Thank for posting that amazing video. It’s always encouraging to see someone overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It gives hope for the rest of us who may have less to overcome.
Coincidentally, I transcribe clinic notes for a hand surgery clinic. And I always ask myself, “What would I do if thus and such happened to my hands?” Because not only do I earn my livelihood with my hands, I play piano, which gives me great pleasure and is so therapeutic.
I’m at the intermediate level, getting ready to cross into advanced. I have a wonderful teacher. I dropped out of lessons for awhile and just returned this past winter. I don’t know anyone else to whom I’d go for lessons who would be just as good or better.
My teacher remarks on my ability to pick up jazz rhythms. My immediate goal is to learn more about playing jazz and the blues on piano. But longterm, I want to play many different genres competently enough to do so in public.
pretty fabulous i cant imagine my self playing a piano with out arm but only your feet only.. this is a inspiration for us pianist to practice to play with your own feet..
thanks for sharing it btw
You are absolutely right that learning piano is hard. I think most people quit because they have unrealistic expectations. I will show this video to anyone who is losing motivation. With hard work, anything is possible. A truly inspiring video.
Thanks for sharing!
Hello, Chris,
I saw today on youtube your fantastic jazzy version of Jingle Bells, and I would love to try and play it. I’m an intermediate-level player, with experience in reading notes; would it be possible that you please send me the sheetmusic of this excellence piece so I can play it to my wife and kids?
If there is a price, I’m ok with covering it.
Regards,
Roberto
