Slash Chords and Inversions
Inversions are written like a fraction, with the name of the chord on top and the bass note on the bottom. For example: “C/E” or “G/D” or “D/F#”
CHORD/BASS NOTE
(chord over the bass note)
- C – This is how to write the root position chord.
(From bottom to top: C, E, G) - C/E – C is the Chord, E is the Bass.
(From bottom to top: E, G, C)
This is called the1st inversion. - C/G – C is Chord, G is the bass.
(From bottom up: G,C,E)
This is called the 2nd inversion.

the lesson about triads and inversions was very helpful by Mario. Thank you Chris, your lessons are really quite good. Will you be posting the rest of Your Song? or did I miss it somewhere
Hi Chris, just wondering if you finished the complete version of YOUR SONG?
also, the intro for PIANO MAN was very good but could you make a complete
tutorial on it with a music sheet download? the intro was a tease. How are you doing? I haven’t spoke to you since May. Keep up the good work
Thanks Pete R
